Maybe I've been watching too much cable news this past week, but it seems like Ann Coulter could use a vacation. Spending quality time in a place where people have a reputation for being nice might be just what the doctor ordered to turn her frown upside down. This country's filled with warm-hearted souls who could show her a good time.

Take Minneapolis, for example. I read a recent road rage study that claims the Twin Cities have the nicest drivers in the country. The fresh air and friendly folk of Halifax might also do Ms. Coulter some good, since the city claims to be Canada's most convivial. Or maybe what she needs is to head down to Rio de Janeiro, which is the most "simpatico" city in the world, according to a Cal State study.

Regardless, I'm looking forward to hanging out with the kind folks of NYC--no laughing, they really can be nice--this weekend.

Thank you for your response. 

I find it interesting that you intend to avoid content which would offend "anyone who is tolerant of racial, religious or ethnic diversity, or alternative sexual orientations, " however you don't extend that same courtesy to Republicans or Conservatives for that matter. 

Sadly for me, a resident of the San Francisco Bay Area, I am all too familiar with the hypocrisy of the bleeding heart Left, a group who embraces all races, religions, sexual orientations, unless of course you happen to be a conservative, Christian Republican, in which case they'll do their best to marginalize you.

Keep in mind that most of this nation is comprised of Red States and any number of Democratic or Liberal pundits could have just as easily replaced the name Ann Coulter.  Singling her out as bitter or unhappy is simply unfair.

As the Dixie Chicks have found, freedom of speech is a wonderful thing, and it's also a two way street.  You're free to express your opinion and people are free to take their business elsewhere.

Please remove me from your list.

Out of Town

I was out of town visiting relatives in the Northwest last week, so another newsletter opportunity lost.  I did, however, witness one of the most entertaining and unusual graduations at Evergreen College where my cousin graduated.  They make Berkeley quiver in fear and shame when it comes to being radical leftists.  Caps and gowns were optional.  I've posted a couple of pictures below, and you can click on them to enlarge.  The students were protesting the left-wing Democratic governor of Washington, who was the guest speaker at graduation.  Appropriately, the graduation was held on campus in Red Square.

Flying Home with Omar Vizquel

I had the pleasure of flying home from Seattle on the plane with Giants gold-glover, Omar Vizquel.  If you haven't seen him play shortstop, you're missing poetry in motion.

Unfortunately, I also had the pleasure of going to the Giants vs. Mariners game on Saturday to witness on of the three losses they had in Seattle.

RE: COMPLAINT # 6515 -- Objection to Green Cross permit

Dear Mr. Badiner:

As a practicing physician (Internal & Nuclear Medicine), I am deeply concerned that patients enduring pain from medically diagnosed conditions should receive appropriate palliative care. Therefore, I voted in favor of permitting the dispensation of medical marijuana to such patients, with the understanding that they would be screened and supervised, and that the "cannabis clubs" would be licensed and controlled by city agencies.

As a 33-year resident of Fair Oaks Street, I never imagined that my vote would endorse the city's establishment of a de facto drug dealership in the heart of our close-knit residential community. This, in my observation, is what the Green Cross has become.

I request that you either revoke its license and close the clinic, or relocate it under strict supervision.

Over the past several months, automobile and foot traffic by Green Cross patrons has increased to the point of major congestion in the block outside the clinic on 22nd Street west of Guerrero. Double parking, along with blocked driveways, alleys, and fire hydrants, became so hazardous that Green Cross recently hired a "security guard" to discourage such behavior by its customers. However, the hazard has simply migrated around the corners onto Fair Oaks Street, where it remains a danger to nearby schoolchildren and residents alike.

Worse, Green Cross customers obviously include scores of non-patients, whose "need" arises exclusively on Friday and Saturday afternoons and evenings, and whose interest in cannabis is apparently commercial rather than medical. Hasty exchanges between clinic patrons and waiting drivers are frequent and furtive. While observing such transactions in broad daylight, I have several times been met with openly hostile glares and the gunning of motors, which is intimidating, if not explicitly threatening.

In the past few months, neighboring businesses have been forced to close or limit their operation due to this trafficking. Reports of residential burglaries, hot prowls, and neighborhood break-ins -- when residents are at home -- have increased. A local man was recently beaten near his restaurant. Fistfights and gunfire have erupted in our formerly peaceful streets.

When will a bystander be caught in the crossfire? When will a child be run over and killed?

Clearly, this "clinic" is in the wrong place, but please don't dismiss my objections as mere NIMBY-ism. If you decide to permit Green Cross to remain in operation, please relocate it where it can be properly supervised, and where genuine patients can conveniently obtain the relief they need.

Three wheelchair-accessible locations near public transportation include:

1) Valencia and 16th Street, in or near Mission Police Station (perhaps in a trailer or temporary structure in the parking lot);

2) City Hall (space in the basement, or a modular structure on the Plaza);

3) San Francisco General Hospital.

Incredible that a medical doctor could be such an idiot.  I think Michael Savage had it right when he called liberalism a mental disorder.  Why would ANYONE be shocked that a pot club in their neighborhood actually brought in a bad element of criminals and drug dealers/users?  Oh, I know.  It's the same people who believe the "medical marijuana" lobby is simply about giving medicine to sick people. 

ACLU Concerned Over Gitmo Suicides; Suicide Bombing Okay

GITMO, Cuba --- The ACLU expressed grave concerns over three recent suicides by terrorists at Guantanamo Bay prison.  The prisoners used makeshift ropes to hang themselves.

"This is so upseting on so many levels," said Libby Crackers of the ACLU.  "Obviously, the gourmet meals, access to the Koran, and entertainment really got to them.  We take serious issue with terrorist prisoners committing suicide, and the United States government should pay dearly for this.  If they are going to allow these individuals to commit suicide, they need to be culturally sensitive and supply them with bomb vests to do so properly.  We'll be filing a court motion tomorrow."

Kennedy Blasts White House for Bombing Undocumented Workers

MASSACHUSETTS --- A vacationing Ted Kennedy blasted the White House a day after bombs killed an undocumented worker in Iraq.  Kennedy vowed that Bush would pay for the incredible act.

"Today, our president has chosen to have his own immigration policy instituted," said Kennedy.  "He has instructed our soldiers to bomb an undocumented worker in Iraq.  Mr. Zarqawi was simply there in Iraq trying to provide for his family and fellow jihadists.  Did he break the law by sneaking across the border?  Sure, but the law is wrong.  Mr. Zarqawi was simply doing jobs that most other Iraqis were not willing to do.  The majority of Iraqis are not willing to saw off heads, set off roadside bombs or create a civil war.  When will Bush start bombing undocumented workers right here in America now that this has happened?  Zarqawi cuts off heads, and Jose cuts your lawn.  It's obvious where this is going.  I say amnesty for all undocumented workers both here and in Iraq.  We need to stop the madness.  We need to stop this blood-thirsty president before he kills your gardener."

Boxer Cries Over Zarqawi Death

SACRAMENTO, California --- Barbara Boxer held a press conference announcing the death of Al Qaeda terrorist, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, and cried uncontrollably. 

"I'm sorry to be so emotional," said Boxer.  "Not only does his death mean the Republicans have a victory to tout in the war on freedom fighters, but it is a huge blow to the 2008 Democratic presidential ticket.  He was a front runner for Hillary's running mate.  Now we can only hope that bin Laden resurfaces or our attorneys win Saddam Hussein's trial to free him up for the ticket."

Mexico Takes Over California

SAN JOSE, Mexifornia --- Californians were alarmed to learn today that California has secretly been taken over by Mexico.  A friend in San Jose, California, gave me a copy of the Republican Primary ballot booklet he received in the mail that is written entirely in Spanish.  Neither he nor his wife speak a word of Spanish, so they will ask that the California school system put them through a Spanish as a Second Language course in order to vote in Mexifornia.

SAN FRANCISCO, California --- I had the pleasure of seeing Barry Bonds hit #715 and pass Babe Ruth last weekend.  I attended 10 of the past 12 Giants home games, which has contributed in part to my delinquent newsletters.  I was lucky enough to catch a picture of Bonds in mid-swing as the ball was leaving his bat.
